Off to the side of our future West Pond bridge will be our reconstructed Avalokiteshvara Hall. The original Avalokiteshvara Hall currently standing onsite will remain for the foreseeable future. Though this building has weathered the elements since its construction in the 1980’s, we were able to make improvements thanks to our parishioner Zheng Jieqin, who generously donated the necessary roofing materials to the Mahayana Temple. The existing Avalokiteshvara Hall can now continue to stand and stay open while other construction progresses around the retreat grounds.
Considering current progress, we are hoping to open the future Avalokiteshvara Hall to the public in Fall 2027, at which point we will convert the current hall for different temple purposes.
To align with the new bridge according to our plan, the new building’s location will be slightly shifted from where the existing structure sits. By adjusting the placement for bridge alignment, we aim to enhance the sense of harmony throughout the retreat. Follow along to find out about the next structure in the plan.
